Kevin Casey

Kevin has been with Backen & Backen since 2015 and has advanced through several design roles before being promoted to Principal in 2023. He is passionate about creatively implementing Backen & Backen’s core values of Land | Building | Body to find regenerative design solutions that engage the landscape and enhance the wellbeing of our clients. Through careful listening and understanding of our clients’ vision, he works side by side with Howard Backen to develop both the big picture concepts and fine details, tailored to each project’s needs. Through careful listening and a deep understanding of our clients’ vision, Kevin learned from the late Howard Backen how to craft both big-picture concepts and fine details uniquely tailored to each project’s needs. He continues to carry forward this thoughtful approach, ensuring each design reflects the same level of precision and artistry.
Kevin enjoys working on hospitality and high-end residential projects. He managed the remodel of Solage, an award-winning luxury resort in Napa Valley, and has worked on residences in Northern California, Lake Tahoe, New York, Hawaii, Alberta, and Malibu.
Kevin has over 20 years of architecture experience and is a LEED accredited professional. Prior to joining Backen & Backen, he worked on higher education, historical renovation, winery, and high-end residential projects located in Boston, Dubai, Miami, and Northern California.
Kevin holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Upstate New York, where he was awarded the Harriet R. Peck Prize. Outside the office, Kevin enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, photography and traveling. He’s always up for an adventure, has been to 50 countries across six continents, and has summited Mt. Kilimanjaro.
