Backen & Backen was granted the honor of designing various retail stores worldwide for RH (Restoration Hardware). Defining former public buildings by incorporating large openings for natural light in the interior galleries and designing enclosed gardens for exterior merchandising. The RH Greenwich Gallery occupies the former main post office building from 1917, which is on the National Public Registry of Historic Places. Backen & Backen’s redesign received many awards including the President’s Award for National Leadership in Historic Preservation in 2015.
