PROMONTORY WINERY
Napa Valley, Winery, Hospitality, Reclaimed Wood, Concrete, Gravity Flow
Oakville, California
Promontory Winery is a 20-acre winemaking estate on the western hills of Napa Valley. The site was designed to integrate with the natural topography and proximity to the surrounding vineyards. Design elements were inspired by the historic context of the Industrial Revolution and the agrarian nature of winemaking in Napa Valley. The winery is designed as a gravity flow process. The grapes are harvested from the surrounding hills, the fruit is taken down to the winery where it is crushed, destemmed, put directly into fermentation tanks via sliding track system and then directly below to the cellar for ageing and bottling. Heavily textured materials including reclaimed wood, plaster, concrete, and metal are used in both the production and hospitality spaces.
